A Bit About Me

My name is Mariel, and I am from Peru! I love learning languages and about other cultures. As a certified Spanish teacher, I have over 15 years of experience working with students of all ages and in various settings around New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I worked hard to get my Masters in Spanish from Rutgers University, however, what makes me most qualified to teach a language is knowing firsthand how difficult it is to learn a new language, especially as an adult. When I moved to the United States, I didn’t speak English. In the beginning, I used different software and grammar books without significant results. I even limited my contact with native English speakers because I was embarrassed that I wouldn’t be able to answer their questions or convey what I was trying to say back to them. It wasn’t until I started working with a tutor and exposing myself to my new environments that I really started learning the language conversationally. It was a long process, but it was absolutely rewarding. I was able to meet new people, learn about the culture, and advance in my education and career. The program that I’m offering is geared toward people of all ages, and I believe that everyone should take advantage of the many benefits that a bilingual brain offers. My lessons are engaging and tailored to your needs and my approach is based on the latest research in second-language acquisition. Feel free to review my lesson plans for more information, and send me an email at: info@SpanishNvivo.com               ¡Nos vemos!
